The Difference

The work we do together isn’t either/or. This work is both/and.

By combining Bowenwork therapy with embodiment coaching, you can experience a more holistic approach to healing that addresses both physical and emotional aspects of your well-being. It’s understanding that the level of dysfunction, dis-ease, or dis-regulation wasn’t created in a day and it won’t unwind in 90 minutes either. It’s making a full commitment to self and saying that now is the time to care for yourself in the way you have been pushing off for years. There is no more waiting.

Bowenwork therapy helps to release physical tension, improve function and reset the nervous system out of fight or flight and into rest and restore, while having a deeper conversation around “how did you get here”, supports developing a deeper understanding of your body and emotions, and learn to use this awareness to make positive changes in your life.

The power of this work comes from making that first choice to devote yourself to the pursuit of you. Providing yourself the opportunity and the time to heal and regenerate in a powerful way while not feeling alone as you go. Each session and program is custom tailored to your individual needs to ensure that you are receiving the support during and in between sessions that you need for this time in your life.

  • Yes, you absolutely can!! Wear light, loose clothing that is comfortable to move in. Bowenwork is bodywork done on the table, like massage, and can be done on the skin or over the clothing.

  • In bodywork, there is good, better, and best when trying to undo long or short-term dysfunction in the body. Receive one good session- you will feel better for a bit. Three sessions, allows layers of pain to peel away even more. Each session builds upon the other for longer-lasting results. Receive six or more sessions, and that is best, as you will have chosen to commit to not only decrease your pain, but also to partner with your practitioner in your wellness rather than to rely upon them to “fix you.” Bowen continues to “work” for up to 10 days in the body AFTER your session. If you do three sessions monthly, each session builds upon the other to maximize its effectiveness for longer-lasting results. Maintenance CAN be reached, which could look like one appointment every 2-3 months to tune up with additional bodywork as desired.

  • Bowenwork initiates the body’s self-healing mechanisms on a deeper level than many other modalities of bodywork. After completing a set of “moves” in part of a protocol, it takes your body and brain two full minutes to receive, assess and integrate the information that is put into the nervous system and the muscles. So often, even in a relaxing massage, our brain is constantly overstimulated with new information and not offered time to process it.  The time offered in these rests is a gift.

  • Describing what Bowenwork is can be tricky business indeed. It is not massage as it does not include continuous, gliding movements, deep pressure, or oiled work like traditional massage. It is not energy work like Reiki or polarity as its intention is not to manipulate chi or chakras specifically. It is a hands-on modality similar to Craniosacral in its gentleness. It has a blend of acupressure-like techniques that affect the body along meridian lines known to help move stagnant energy through the body. It is a modality best experienced for yourself!

Coaching FAQs

Is Embodiment coaching where we talk about my feelings as I would with a counselor or therapist?

Yes. And also No. I am not a therapist; I am a coach. The feelings we talk about in embodiment are the physical sensations we feel IN the body. We pause to reflect on what those physical sensations are communicating to us and then shift towards thinking of how you WANT to feel in your body and work with a language that moves your mindset to align with the goals you bring forth in the session. In coaching- we create a YOU CENTERED action plan personalized to your life. This type of coaching helps you to fine-tune your intuition and begin to live more authentically.

What is the difference between a single coaching session and a customized plan?

The most significant difference between seeing me once in a while on an as-needed basis, and committing to a custom coaching program designed just for you over 3 months up to a year, is attention and support. In a single session, you receive my attention and support only in the session.

In a planned program, you receive ongoing support outside your session in the most beneficial way that maximizes your outcome. When you have a plan- you aren’t left to figure it out alone.

Have you ever wished you could have a personal cheerleader in your pocket to take with you everywhere you go? THIS IS IT!!
